Introduction
In a highly fragmented information environment, a research institution’s public value depends on whether it deserves to be trusted. Trust does not come from self-declaration but from reproducible ways of working. The Institute has therefore drafted content production and citation standards as a shared working baseline for the editorial office and researchers, now open for public consultation (v0.9).
1. Separating fact, quotation and analysis
- Statements of fact: label verifiable sources; unverified claims must not appear as facts.
- Quotations: name the speaker, setting and context; do not trim the meaning.
- Analysis and opinion: clearly mark as the author’s or editorial office’s judgement, never mixed into facts.
- Uncertainty: use qualifiers such as “according to currently available public materials” or “yet to be verified” rather than vagueness.
2. Sources and traceability
- Public materials are cited with source and access date; non-public materials require a statement of how they were obtained and the limits of their use.
- Data and statistics: label definitions, years and original publisher; secondary citations must be traced back to the primary source.
- The boundary between institutional positions and researchers’ individual views is stated at the end of the text or in the author line.
3. Versions, updates and corrections
- Formal content carries a version number; updates keep a version record and summary on the same page.
- When factual errors are found, correct them prominently on the original page and leave a record; do not silently rewrite history.
- When republishing or citing our content, we recommend retaining version and source so readers can trace it.
Consultation
This standard is currently a consultation draft; colleagues and readers are welcome to propose revisions to the clauses above. Channel: the Institute’s contact page; the consultation runs for thirty days from publication of this notice. We will publish the formal version after consolidating comments and archive the differences between versions.
