Policy note
As a public knowledge institution, the Institute supports open access to research outputs and data. Openness does not mean abandoning management: clear licensing and citation rules both protect authors’ rights and help readers use materials responsibly. This article summarises the licensing and use terms for content on this site.
Original content of the Institute
- Licence: original research notes, reports and commentary are by default released under a Creative Commons Attribution licence (CC BY), permitting copying and redistribution with attribution.
- Citation: the recommended format is “The World and China Institute, Title, version, publication date, link”. When republishing in full, retain version and date so readers are not misled by an older version.
- Corrections: if republished content differs from the latest version on this site, the version on this site prevails.
External resources indexed on this site
Copyright and licensing of third-party data and publications in the academic resources library belong to their rights holders. We label the source and licence in each entry; readers using external resources must follow the original terms. This site provides indexing and navigation only and does not grant rights to republish third-party content.
Fair use and commercial use
Fair quotation for personal study and research requires no additional permission; commercial use, systematic redistribution or substantial adaptation of content requires contacting the Institute to confirm licensing. For commercial use of data, pay particular attention to the original licence of the underlying data.
Feedback
Questions about this policy or licensing requests can be raised through the contact page. The policy will be revised periodically as the Institute develops, with a revision record kept on this page.
