LATEST RESEARCH
Economic sanctions have moved from an exceptional instrument to a routine policy tool, and the spread of counter-sanctions and evasion is changing their effectiveness. This note analyses the mechanisms of diffusion, measurement challenges and long-term implications for global governance.
Climate issues are shaping the values and policy attitudes of younger generations. This note reviews empirical literature on the relationship between climate perception and policy support, and discusses the boundaries of the concept of “climate anxiety” and the state of evidence on generational difference.
The green transition depends on stable supplies of critical minerals, while mineral supply chains are highly concentrated. This note compares policy instruments in exploration, processing and recycling across major economies, and discusses the tension between green goals and resource competition.

This article examines three core issues of the Global South agenda — development finance, debt governance and institutional representation — and asks whether the multilateral system’s response is sufficient.
Cross-border river governance is a classic regional cooperation problem: misaligned upstream and downstream interests, insufficient data sharing and fragmented institutions. This article compares governance experience in Asia’s main basins and discusses the conditions for water diplomacy to move from crisis response to institutionalisation.
