Global Governance Knowledge Partner Network: an open framework for joint research

Status:In preparationPeriod:2026–2027Partners:Open to universities, think tanks and public institutions (partner list to be announced)

Project background

The fragmentation of global governance research stems partly from scattered knowledge and resources: scholars in different regions work on similar questions yet lack sustained mechanisms for exchange and sharing. The Institute aims to provide a low-threshold, open framework so that dispersed research capacities can converge around shared agendas.

Objectives and structure

The project rests on three pillars:

  • Joint research: cross-country teams organised around core global governance topics, publishing working papers and reports.
  • Scholar exchange: short-term residencies and online seminars that lower the cost of face-to-face collaboration.
  • Co-created open resources: participating institutions jointly maintain data, bibliographies and methodological tools as public knowledge products.

Open participation

The network is open to universities, think tanks and public research institutions, with no regional or disciplinary threshold. Participation is flexible: institutions may join a single research topic or take part in long-term resource co-creation. The Institute will establish a liaison mechanism and annual exchange programme so that participating institutions have a stable rhythm of interaction.

Current status

The project is in preparation: the framework design and participation rules will be updated on this page. The official launch date and first partner list will be announced separately; interested institutions are welcome to contact us through the contact page.
